Where's Truth and Beauty?

Although now my notepad seems full of David Byrne, I have amassed lots of pictures of his Sheffielder doppelganger - Russell Senior (from Pulp). These are all quite old sketches so the technique isn't as refined as what I do now

Russell from '96 - It is worth noting that the interview in question (Shortlist 2012) mis-labelled Russell as Mark which makes the date also questionable since Mark joined in '95 and he's not in the photo

Russell '85

Russell '86 - This was the first drawing I did when I started drawing again

This is from 'The Day That Never Happened' gig in '88. If you'll remember (optimistic) I drew a coloured version of this as well

David Bowie Is Watching You

This is my first painting on canvas - and my first painting in about 3 years. My aim was to try and do a pop-art (ish) painting of David Bowie (Aladdin sane)'s eye. The original plan was to do two canvases with each eye (the constricted and dilated one so although it contains little of his face it could still be easily recognisable as Bowie. Not too sure if I will follow that through though)

Seen and Not Seen

Yet another picture of David Byrne

Yes, my subjects are a bit predictable

Based on :

Oh look it's me..

Looking a bit of a shady character (in that I think I overdid the shading).

When I started drawing it was light outside, but I didn't notice that it was getting progressively darker. When I realised, turned on the light and looked at my drawing my self-portrait self looked black. Not a lie. This is after lots of rubbing out and it's still pretty shaded.

Morale: Always turn the light on before you start to draw (I'm ashamed to say that it is not the first time I have made the mistake...)
